The Big Leap by Martina Flor

The Big Leap by Martina Flor is a guide for creatives who want to run their businesses professionally. She goes over how to use your social media to promote your art and your business, communicating with clients, following a professional process and more. I’ve also taken her freelance course called Leap Now and I highly recommend you check it out as well.

Freelance, And Business, And Stuff by Hoodzpah Design

Freelance, And Business, And Stuff by Amy and Jennifer Hood of Hoodzpah Design is an essential book for starting and running a creative business. They’ve been successfully running their business for years and have created this book to share their experiences with others. You can use it to figure out how to write a business plan, choose the right business structure, pricing your work, and more.

Handbook of Pricing & Ethical Guidelines by The Graphic Artists Guild

Handbook of Pricing & Ethical Guidelines by The Graphic Artists Guild is an essential book for creatives of all disciplines. This book is great because not only does it give you ranges for different types of work, but it also provides you with templates and contracts that you can use and reference for your business. I’m always referencing this when I need to provide quotes to clients and it has been invaluable for my business.
